Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on strengthening and mobilising the body to achieve optimal performance. It was originally developed by Joseph Pilates, a physical trainer who worked with war veterans and later on dancers and saw the benefit of movement and exercise in restoring physical and mental health after injury.
Our Physiotherapists who teach Pilates have all undergone specific training with The Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (The APPI) and adopt a method which safely allows Pilates to be delivered to those who may be injured or in pain. Pilates has excellent all round benefits and can be really effective in the rehabilitation process post injury-when either used in isolation or alongside other rehabilitation and treatment methods as part of you treatment programme. Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and aims to teach you an awareness and understanding of your body to enable you to be in control.
At Excel we teach pilates one-to-one, in class formats or you may find it incorporated within your physiotherapy treatment/rehabilitation.
Our classes are run at The Beaconsfield Squash Club with Sarah.
Alternatively Sarah, WanYiu and Kate are all able to assess you on a one-to-one basis in clinics across all sites.
